June 17, 2019
Beginning June 17, 2019, the Stone Memorial Shelter on the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail in New York's Harriman State Park will be closed for repair and restoration. Work is expected to take approximately two to three months. Due to space restrictions, tent camping around this shelter will not be feasible. The park is asking patrons to make alternative plans for camping in this vicinity. The closest shelter is the Big Hill Shelter on the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail.
A reminder that trailside camping in Harriman State Park is only permitted in or within 300 yards of a designated trail shelter.
